AS50 Rail — AS1085 (50 kg/m)

Product Overview

AS50 rail is an AS1085-conforming medium-duty rail profile (≈50 kg/m) engineered for industrial mainlines, branch routes and plant track installations. Offered in standard and heat-treated variants, AS50 balances strength and economy for applications where sustained loading and moderate abrasion are expected.

Materials, treatment & quality control

Material options: Standard supply: 900A carbon-manganese rail steel. For higher wear resistance or severe service, head-hardened (HH) rails or higher-strength grades (e.g., 1100 series) are available.

Heat treatment: Head hardening, induction hardening or micro-alloying (Nb/V/Ti) options can be specified to extend head life in abrasive environments.

Quality documentation: Each shipment is supplied with an MTC showing chemical composition and mechanical test results (tensile, yield), head hardness and Charpy impact tests as required. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, etc.) is supported.

Joining & installation guidance: Recommended joining methods include aluminothermic (thermit) and flash-butt welding; welding procedure specifications and fit-up guidance are provided to purchasers.

Typical applications

  • Industrial mainlines and heavy-use branchlines

  • Mining feeder tracks and transfer corridors where moderate to heavy loads apply

  • Port and terminal transfer tracks for wagons and light shunting operations

  • Plant internal logistics and workshop tracks

  • Prefabricated portable track panels for temporary or mobile installations
