1. Project Background
1.1 Project Overview
Location: Singapore Shipyard
Project Type: Crane rail replacement
Rail Type: DIN 536 A100 crane rail
Supply Scope: 780m A100 rail and rubber rail pads
Shipment Date: January 2025
Glory Rail supplied 780 meters of DIN 536 A100 crane rail and matching rubber rail pads for a crane rail replacement project at a shipyard in Singapore.
The client was responsible for both material procurement and on-site installation. The project involved replacing an existing rail system that had been in continuous service for approximately ten years.
The upgraded rail system was designed to restore safe crane operation, improve running accuracy, and extend the service life of the shipyard’s lifting equipment.
1.2 Existing Rail Condition
The original A100 crane rail had been operating for more than a decade in a demanding shipyard environment.
The rail system was installed on individual steel soleplates and secured using bolted rail clips. After years of heavy crane traffic, the rail profile had experienced noticeable wear, affecting operational smoothness and long-term reliability.
To maintain safe crane movement and avoid future maintenance issues, the client decided to replace the existing rail system with new DIN 536 A100 crane rails.
2. Scope of Supply
Glory Rail supplied the following materials for the project:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Crane Rail | DIN 536 A100 |
| Total Length | 780 meters |
| Rail End Processing | 45° bevel cutting |
| Bevel Length | 12m tip-to-tip |
| Rail Pad | Rubber rail pad |
| Shipment | January 2025 |
All rails were manufactured and processed according to the client’s project requirements before shipment.
3. Customized Rail Processing
3.1 45° Rail End Bevel Cutting
To support field installation and rail joining requirements, all rail ends were machined with 45-degree bevel cuts.
The finished rail ends featured a 12-meter tip-to-tip transition length, allowing for smoother alignment and facilitating subsequent welding operations on site.
Benefits of the bevel-cut rail ends included:
- Improved weld preparation
- Easier rail alignment during installation
- Reduced stress concentration at rail joints
- Better long-term rail performance
This customized processing helped simplify installation work while improving the quality of the final rail system.
4. Packaging and Shipment
After final inspection, all rails and accessories were prepared for export shipment from China to Singapore.
A100 Rail Loading
The A100 crane rails were carefully loaded into shipping containers and secured with steel wire to prevent movement during transportation.
The loading arrangement ensured that the rails remained stable throughout ocean transport and arrived at the project site in excellent condition.

Accessories Packing
The rubber rail pads and associated fixing components were wrapped and secured separately inside the containers.
Additional strapping and protective packaging were applied to prevent damage during handling and transit.

5. Site Preparation for Rail Replacement
Before installation of the new rails, the shipyard completed preparation work at the replacement area.
The existing rail system was removed and the foundation was inspected to ensure it remained suitable for continued operation.
Rubber pads and fixing bolts were positioned on the prepared concrete foundation before installation of the new A100 crane rail.
At the same time, the installation team carried out leveling and alignment preparation to ensure the new rail system could be installed accurately.

6. Project Outcome
The complete shipment of 780 meters of A100 crane rail and rubber rail pads was delivered on schedule in January 2025.
Following delivery, the client carried out the rail replacement work using its own installation team.
Key project achievements included:
- Successful replacement of a rail system that had served for more than ten years
- Supply of 780m DIN 536 A100 crane rail
- Customized 45° rail end machining
- On-time international delivery
- Smooth installation preparation at the shipyard
The new rail system provides a reliable foundation for continued crane operations and future shipyard maintenance activities.
