Crane Grab
Product Overview
Our crane grab is a high-efficiency material handling attachment designed for picking up and transferring loose and lumped bulk materials. It features a robust structure, fast cycle performance and broad compatibility with many crane types. The product range includes single-rope hanging grabs, four-rope grabs and electrically driven grabs. We provide bespoke selection by payload, volume and crane configuration to meet operations from lightweight coal dust to heavy ore.
Key Advantages
Customizable configurations: Options include toothed lips (for hard materials), perforated shells (for water drainage), and waterproofing (for underwater operation).
High-wear materials: Lip made from high-strength cast steel; tooth hardness ≥ 45 HRC to withstand severe working conditions and extend service life.
Broad equipment compatibility: Fits 5-ton double-girder overhead cranes, gantry cranes, truck cranes and other crane types without major modifications.
High handling efficiency: Effective fill rate 85%–95% of geometric capacity; grab efficiency (grab ratio) ≥ 1.5 — increases material throughput and reduces cycle times.
Technical & Commercial Notes
Material & heat treatment details: Provide steel grades for shell and lip, heat-treatment method, and toughness/impact test results for wear parts.
Operational ratings: Maximum grab mass, rated working cycles (cycles/hour), drive motor power and hydraulic parameters.
Safety & compliance: Certifications such as ISO 9001, CE or relevant national standards; safety factor and anti-misoperation devices.
Documentation deliverables: 2D/3D drawings, lifting/installation plan, maintenance manual, test reports (fatigue, wear, load test).
Selection Guide
By material:
Loose, low-density materials (coal dust, ash): single-rope, lightweight grabs.
Hard, high-density materials (stone, ore): four-rope heavy duty with teeth.
Scrap, waste, irregular goods: electric hydraulic multi-petal grabs.
By crane type:
Single-hook cranes → single-rope grab.
Cranes with independent hoist and spreader (dual hook) → four-rope grab.
Cranes lacking auxiliary opening systems → electric grab (self-driven).
By operating condition:
Water/inundated work → waterproof / underwater model.
Materials with high moisture → perforated shell for drainage.
Abrasive, hard materials → toothed lip and reinforced shell.
Pre-order checklist: crane maximum lifting capacity, hook/suspension arrangement, working radius, lift height, ambient temperature, corrosion or explosion-risk environment.
Core Product Series
Single-Rope Hanging Grabs
Product highlights: Simple structure and easy operation — suitable for single-hook cranes. The grab dumps on landing for quick discharge. Excellent cost-performance ratio.
Capacity options: 0.3 m³, 0.5 m³, 0.75 m³, 1.0 m³, 3.0 m³
Representative models & typical uses
| Model | Capacity | Key features | Typical materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| z3 | 0.3 m³ | Lightweight construction | Coal dust, furnace cinders, fine sand |
| Z5 (underwater) | 0.5 m³ | Water-tight sealing for underwater use | Subaqueous slag, river silt, wet port sludge |
| Z7 (heavy) | 0.75 m³ | Reinforced shell, wear-resistant teeth | Heavy clay, hard rock fragments, crushed stone |
| X30 (heavy) | 3.0 m³ | Large volume for bulk unloading | Bulk slag, coal slurry, loose sand & gravel |
Four-Rope Grabs
Product highlights: Independent hoisting and shell-opening systems allow loading/unloading at any height. Very stable grip. Customizable with teeth, perforations or multi-petal layouts.
Capacity options: 2.0 m³, 3.0 m³, 4.1 m³, 4.8 m³, 15.0 m³
Representative models & typical uses
| Model | Capacity | Key features | Typical materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| U4 | 2.0 m³ | Two-petal flat mouth design for high gripping force | Cement lumps, river sand, ore |
| U27 | 3.0 m³ | Mid-size, best value | Iron ore fines, concentrate, silt |
| U1615 | 15.0 m³ | Very large capacity, lightweight body | Fly ash, settling tank sludge |
| U120 (multi-petal) | Custom | Multi-petal opening removes dead zones | Irregular mixed bulk, construction debris |
Electrically Driven Grabs
1. Motor-driven grab
Example: D5 — 0.5 m³ (heavy duty)
Core advantage: Integrated motor enables aerial opening and closing without auxiliary crane mechanisms.
Typical materials: Ore and medium-to-high density lumps.
2. Electric hydraulic grab
Core advantage: Hydraulic drive yields high closing force; available in two-petal and six-petal variants.
Typical materials:
Two-petal: scrap steel, pig iron, coal ash, sand (heavy bulk)
Six-petal: municipal waste, industrial refuse, irregular bulk
Model type
| Grab type | Model | Volume (m³) | Recommended material density (t/m³) | Suggested crane types |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single-rope hanging | Z5 | 0.5 | 1.0–2.0 | 5 t double-girder overhead crane, gantry crane |
| Four-rope | U27 | 3.0 | 1.0–2.0 | Mid-size gantry crane, overhead traveling crane |
| Electric hydraulic (six-petal) | Custom | — | ≥2.0 | Custom fitted double-girder crane |
